The Bioneers
Founder Kenny Ausubel coined the term Bioneers in 1990 to describe an emerging culture. Bioneers are social and scientific innovators from all walks of life and disciplines who have peered deep into the heart of living systems to understand how nature operates, and to mimic "nature's operating instructions" to serve human ends without harming the web of life. They offer practical solutions to environmental and other problems.

Your Forgotten Self on VIRATO LIVE!

A fascination with Jesus as a giant in personal development arose in  Namaste Publishing, Editorial Director, and Virato's guest, David Robert Ord, when he was still in elementary school in England. His pursuit of insight into the self-understanding of Jesus took him from his home in Yorkshire to New Zealand, then to the United States, where he studied at the Graduate Theological Union of Berkeley and became a graduate of San Francisco Theological seminary.

With more than 20 years of experience teaching about Jesus in traditional congregations, Ord now presents us with an understanding of Jesus that breaks with conventional images and reveals Jesus to be the epitome of our humanity, a mirror of the true essence of each of us.

Ord says, “Every bit of craziness, disorder, or dysfunction in our life traces to not yet having entered fully into our center, Where we should above all love ourselves—in our center—we instead fear ourselves.” He says, “At our center we find an absolute peace that can’t be disturbed by anything in our external world—a “peace that passes understanding,” that’s beyond comprehension, as Jesus put it.” His new book, Your Forgotten Self, invites you to experience yourself through new eyes.  When this happens, he says, "the power of the Christ floods your everyday life. You begin to live as Jesus in the present moment.

Alan Watts Discourse

For more than forty years, Alan Watts earned a reputation as a foremost interpreter of Eastern philosophies for the West. Beginning at age sixteen, when he wrote essays for the journal of the Buddhist Lodge in London, he developed an audience of millions who were enriched through his books, tape recordings, radio, television, and public lectures. In all, Watts wrote more than twenty-five books and recorded hundreds of lectures and seminars, all building toward a personal philosophy that he shared in complete candor and joy with his readers and listeners throughout the world.

His life and work reflects an astonishing adventure: he was an editor, Anglican priest, graduate dean, broadcaster, author,  lecturer, and entertainer. He held a Master's Degree in Theology from Sudbury-Western Theological Seminary and an Honorary DD from the University of Vermont in recognition of his work in the field of comparative religions.

Watts held fellowships from Harvard University and the Bollingen Foundation, and was Episcopal Chaplain at Northwestern University during the Second World War. He became professor and dean of the American Academy of Asian Studies in San Francisco, made the television series "Eastern Wisdom and Modern Life" for National Educational Television, and served as a visiting consultant for psychiatric institutions and hospitals, and for the United States Air Force. In the mid-sixties he traveled widely with his students in Japan, and visited Burma, Ceylon, and India.
