Infant Consciousness
from Science Daily News --
A new study from Northwestern University shows what many mothers already know: their babies are a lot smarter than others may realize.Though only five months old, the study's cuties indicated through their curious stares that they could differentiate water in a glass from solid blue material that looked very much like water in a similar glass. The finding that infants can distinguish between solids and liquids at such an early age builds upon a growing body of research that strongly suggests that babies are not blank slates who primarily depend on others for acquiring knowledge. That's a common assumption of researchers in the not too distant past. "Rather, our research shows that babies are amazing little experimenters with innate knowledge," Susan Hespos said. "They're collecting data all the time." Hespos, an assistant professor of psychology at Northwestern, is lead author of the study, which appears in the May 2009 issue of Psychological Science.

On The Marijuana Issue
From CNN --
It’s time to debate legalizing marijuana in California — so says Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. As the state faces mounting deficits, the governor says he’s open to talking about different ways to create revenue. He says he’s interested in looking at other countries that have legalized it to see what effect it’s had. Schwarzenegger’s comments come as support grows nationwide for legalizing pot. In California, a recent poll found for the first time a majority of voters back legalization. One California lawmaker says regulating and taxing marijuana would bring the state as much as $1.3 billion a year in extra revenue. Proponents say it’s about more than just money; it’s about the failure of the war on drugs and implementing “a more enlightened policy.”
One advocate tells The San Francisco Chronicle that Schwarzenegger’s comments represent “a tectonic shift” in attitudes on the issue, saying: “The public is going to drag the politicians into doing what is right.”

People Seek Psychics for Financial Help

from ABC News --
People don't need a crystal ball to see the economy's turmoil, but nevertheless, some have turned to psychics psychics to get advice about their financial life. People look to soothsayers to provide confidence in economic crisis. Virginia resident Pam Jenkins has been seeing New York psychic Carmen Harra since 2002, but with the economy in trouble, her inquiries have turned from trying to contact her deceased relatives toward questions about her financial future.
Facing possible foreclosure on her home, she asked her most trusted adviser, Harra, for some insight about the situation.

"I would take her advice over any financial planner and any lawyer any day," Jenkins said. She said that her financial stress resulted from the fact that she'd got caught with a subprime loan after refinancing her home to add a pool.

What is Reality?
From Word Press.com --
What is the truth behind the reporting of global events which shape the future of human existence and the world we leave our children. The veil lifts on an astonishing web of interconnected manipulation to reveal that the same few people, secret societies and organizations control the daily direction of our lives, & how the same people on apparently different sides of politics are actually connected to the same elite organizations. These organizations have the same proven agenda of a world government, a world central bank, a world army, a world currency, and some say a micro-chipped population.

Apparent opposites in politics are there to persuade us that we are not living in a prison, that we have a choice. Yet these persons are not opposites at all, but are part of a one-party state. The last two US Presidents were apparently opposites and on different sides – Bill Clinton and George Bush – yet they were both heavily involved within the same elite organizations. Ditto Obama. Within any culture or dogma (religious, economic, political etc) wherein if you conform to it, you are in the comfort zone. No one’s going to laugh at you, condemn you for being different, or for expressing your uniqueness, because you are locked into the herd mentality, and you are conforming to what you are told you should be and do. When you step out of this mind-set and express your unique aspect of all that exists and refuse to be frightened, or controlled, you immediately face ridicule or condemnation.

Whatever happened to living? The vast majority of people, rich and poor, on this planet are enslaved. Enslaved by the system’s robotic programming, its economic imprisonment, and by their own refusal to think, question and find the liberation that comes with an open mind. We don’t live in a free society, we live as robots in a society in which you are free to do what the society wants you to do – produce and consume – that’s the reality.” http://mhkeehn.tripod.com/MBRestructured.pdf

The Patriot Act in Action
from wordnetdaily.com --
A Louisiana driver was stopped this week and detained for having a "Don't Tread on Me" bumper sticker on his vehicle and warned by a police officer about the "subversive" message it sent, according to the driver's relative.

The situation developed in the small town of Ball, La., where a receptionist at the police department told WND she knew nothing about the traffic stop, during which the "suspect" was investigated for "extremist" activities, the relative said. It followed by only a few weeks the release of a Department of Homeland Security "Right-wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment" report, which prompted outrage from legislators and a campaign calling for the resignation of DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano.

The report cites individuals who sport certain bumper stickers on their vehicles as suspect, and it was delivered to tens of thousands of local law enforcement officers across the nation. WND is withholding the driver's name and the relative's name at their request. According to the relative, the situation happened this way: Her brother-in-law was driving home from work through the town that has a local reputation for enhancing its budget by stopping speeders and ticketing them. He was pulled over by police officers who told him "he had a subversive survivalist bumper sticker on his car." "They proceeded to keep him there on the side of the road while they ran whatever they do to see if you have a record, keeping him standing by the side of the road for 30 minutes," she told WND. Finding no record and no reason to keep him, they warned him and eventually let him go, she said. "It's rather shocking," he said. "We supposedly have freedom of speech in our country. A Louisiana driver has been stopped and detained for having a "Don't Tread on Me" bumper sticker on his vehicle and warned by a police officer about the "subversive" message it sent, according to the driver's relative.
