Hi Virato, You run a good show, in both content and performance. I enjoyed talking with you, and because you are so well prepared, your questions brought out really useful material. You succeed in producing a even-handed discussion of both points of view on controversial topics by creating a space for skeptics to make their best case, but also an opportunity for professional researchers to respond to critiques and skeptical points of view. This is an essential kind of discussion in my book, and it doesn't happen without an engaged and neutral host. I thoroughly enjoyed my interview with Virato on June 10, 2006 as we discussed my book, How the Bible Became the Bible. Virato was very well-prepared and was very organized. I appreciated his professionalism. His questions and our subsequent discussions convinced me of his commitment (as is mine) to an honest sense of spirituality rather than a fear-based sense of religiosity. The Bible is a spiritual guide written by folks of other times and cultures. It is not a religious instruction manual. We need to be able to strip away the time/culture-specific references.
