Barry ‘Isa’ Naster, Ph.D.

Dr. Naster has a Doctorate in Human Learning, a Masters in Behavior Modification, both from Southern Illinois University, and a BA in Psychology from the University of Florida. The author or co-author of over fifty articles in professional journals, his academic performance also won him the Brecht Scholarship Award at the University of Florida, and receipt of a Graduate Fellowship Award at Southern Illinois University. During his 15-year tenure at Florida Mental Health Institute at the University of South Florida, he received their first Outstanding Achievement Award in Academics.

Isa is a licensed psychologist in Florida and North Carolina, and a member of the North Carolina Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association.

While working as a senior clinician in the  Intensive Residential Treatment Program at the University of South Florida, Isa introduced major clinical advances. It was here that he developed the concepts for Inner Awareness Mastery NOW™. The effectiveness of this unique program was extensively researched by comparing it with state and community hospitals, and was found to be superior in satisfaction, duration of stay and reduced recidivism.

Isa has been on numerous television and radio programs, presenting his innovative thinking views on mental health, and has presented his I AM NOW™ concepts in over one hundred seminars, workshops and training programs nationwide. The unique methods he developed have been accepted and used extensively by the State of Florida in their prison systems, mental health centers and state hospitals, as well as in many private Florida facilities.

Isa is the founder of I AM NOW™, a personal growth retreat in Lake Lure, NC, where he teaches the use of the I AM NOW™ principles and meditation. He also conducts groups in the program and offers certification to becoming an I AM NOW™ facilitator.
