Behavior, Not Disease
At Oasis Mountain Wellness Center we see a participant as a person with an alcohol or substance misuse problem, or addiction, which we view as a behavioral problem that one can choose to change. Disease implies that a person has an illness that may not be curable.

At Oasis Mountain we believe that some people may, physiologically and/or psychologically, become dependent more easily than others. However, rather than seeing this as a "disease," we consider it a behavior and/or tendency which one can choose to modify, given the tools. At Oasis Mountain Wellness Cednter participants are never treated as an alcoholics, addicts or sick people. We call them "participants," which most appropriately defines their role.

Our holistic approach uses powerful, yet non-invasive therapies, dietary modification, and spiritual attunement. By assisting a participants in becoming aware of their feelings and thought processes that led to the behavior, they are offered an opportunity to let go of  dysfunction and destructive behaviors.

Again, we do not treat a program participant as "sick," but rather as emotionally "off-track," and capable of changing his or her behavior.

We Empower
People misusing alcohol and/or other substance, or with full-blown addictions, are often "put down" by colleagues, family and friends, or, as in most "12 step" programs, considered to be incurable alcoholics or addicts. This which generally creates a feeling of powerlessness.

When you are empowered you know that you have choices to make, and that you are perfectly capable of making those choices. You can walk away knowing that you were responsible for your own thoughts, feelings and behaviors. With this empowerment, and with the tools gained, participants create an alive, healthy, and purposeful life.

At Oasis Mountain Wellness Center our goal is to rebuild self-esteem through a "life transformation."  With empowerment, and with the tools participants gain from our program, they can create this exciting new healthy, purposeful, and rewarding reality for themselves.
